In last week's episode, we talked about the importance of a relaxed service motion and how that can help you get a better, more powerful serve.  This week, I'm giving you a tool to use to help get that smooth and fluid service motion.  It's a simple tool that you can make using a few items I'm sure you have around the house.  And by practicing with this tool for just a minute or two each day, you'll soon have that smooth and fluid service motion you're looking for.

It's time for another of my Simple Serve Tips! This week, I'll tell you why it is so important to be relaxed during your serve. While that seems like an obvious tip, too many of us think the path to a harder serve is to stiffen up our arm and just hit the ball harder. But in this episode, you'll discover why relaxing on your serve can actually add the power and speed that you're trying so hard to get.

I've been playing singles this summer and I truly love it! Sure, I may not win much. Or at all. But singles does so much to improve my game that I think it's worth it. And I think you should be playing singles too. In this episode of Tennis Quick Tips, I'll give you five really great reasons to play tennis singles - reasons that I hope will inspire you to get out there on the court and play all by yourself!

This week we're talking about mental toughness.  Just what are the psychological traits of mentally tough tennis players?  Tennis is not just physically demanding, you have got to be tough out there on court. But what does that mean? What is mental toughness for tennis? Because if we don't know what it is, how can we work towards achieving it? In this episode, I'm talking about a study I recently read that not only gave a definition of mental toughness for tennis that we can all use, but discussed some of the psychological traits we need to become and stay tough out on court.

I just played for fun with a player who went on and on about how she didn't want to play with lower level players because it didn't benefit her. I mean she really went ON and ON about this. Frankly, I think this attitude is wrong. i think there are plenty of benefits to playing with lower level players. If you're not playing with players because they're beneath you or don't challenge you, I hope this podcast will convince you that there are benefits to your game that you can get from playing with these players.

Summer is here and so I am once again playing singles. Which is weird for me because i don't play a whole lot of singles. That's why i need a reminder of just what the high-percentage shots are for singles. In this episode, I'll tell you what the six most basic things are that you should be doing out on the tennis court when you're playing singles. Hopefully this will be the reminder I need to make sure I actually have a chance at winning my next singles match!

In doubles, it can get confusing knowing exactly when and how you should switch sides during a point.  And this confusion is bad because it can result in leaving huge areas of the court open into which your opponents can easily hit a shot and win the point. So in this episode of Tennis Quick Tips, I'll give you 5 super simple tips to help you know how and when to switch sides during a doubles point. And I'll give you some bonus information on how to get your partner on board with this even if you're playing with a new partner or someone with a reputation for not moving much on court.

How did Novak Djokovic transform himself from a pretty good tennis player into one of the greatest tennis players ever? According to him, a large part of his success is attributable to the diet and lifestyle changes he made in 2010.  He eats gluten-free, believes in stretching, yoga and foam rolling, and lives in a mindful way.  Sounds like something we can all do, right? In this episode of Tennis Quick Tips, I'll tell you why I think Serve to Win is such a good book and how it might help you to become a better tennis player.
