Let's talk about the serve - again. And let's talk about my favorite part of the serve - the toss. Specifically, how are you holding the tennis ball when you are preparing to toss? Have you given that much thought? If not, you may want to because in this episode of Tennis Quick Tips, I'm going to tell you how I think you should hold the ball to get the best toss when you serve.

Some of the best tennis advice can be distilled down into one sentence or one line. And I'll bet you've used this particular tennis “one-liner” several times in the course of your tennis-playing career - play one point at a time. In this episode of Tennis Quick Tips, we're going to talk about playing one point at a time and how that one-liner can be used to help you play better tennis during your next match.

Believe it or not, there are some tennis players that no one wants to partner with! They are not bad players. In fact, they may be pretty darn good. They make their shots. They win more than they lose. But, for a variety of reasons, these players just take all of the fun out of playing tennis. And if you play doubles with any regularity, especially if you play for a team, you might just find yourself partnered with one of these "bad" tennis partners. So how do you deal with these players? How do you play when your partner seems to be the worst tennis partner ever? That's what we're talking about in this episode of Tennis Quick Tips.

I'm a big believer in the idea that there are lots of tiny things we can do that can have a huge impact on our tennis game. One of those is to play with the best equipment possible. In this episode of Tennis Quick Tips, we discuss the grip of your tennis racket - the one thing that comes in direct contact between you and your racket. I'll explain just what the grip is and how you can improve it to make sure your grip, and your racket, are in excellent shape.

I broke a string in my tennis racket recently. This is a pretty common occurrence with tennis players, especially if you don't have your racket restrung when it's time. But this incident reminded me of the time I broke a string during a match which led to me looking into the rules on string breaking and other equipment malfunctions. So in this episode of Tennis Quick Tips, we'll answer the question about just what you do when you break a racket string.

In this episode of Tennis Quick Tips, I'm answering Lorna's question on communicating with your partner during points - how strict should we be on following the calls of "yours" and "mine," especially when the player who calls the ball is not always in the best position to hit the shot. And, as a bonus, I'll talk about verbal hindrances - what they are, what the rules say about them, how to deal with them and how to avoid committing them.
