Tennis Quick Tips | Fun, Fast and Easy Tennis - No Lessons Required

When you think about the mechanics of your strokes in tennis, you may spend a lot of time thinking about your grip, your racquet position, your contact point, even your footwork. But most of us don't spend much time thinking about our follow through. And I think that's because the follow through is what happens after we've already hit the ball. Failure to think about or care about the follow through is a really common error among beginners. But it can also affect advanced players. So let's talk about the follow through - what it is and why it's so important.

It's time for another tennis rules episode (hooray!).  This week, I'm answering the question of a Tennis Fixation follower who asks about where doubles partners can stand when returning the ball.  This is a pretty interesting episode as it turns out the answer is not just about what the rules allow, but also what the best court positioning may be for the returning doubles team.

Fall tennis league is just around the corner and I am preparing so that I don't show up at that first league match, when it counts, as the person who hasn't picked up a racquet in the last two months.  If you also don't want to be that person, be sure and follow my top tips for getting league and tournament ready.

Have you ever played against someone who wants to win the warm-up?  They angle their volleys off for winners.  They smash their overheads back at you, or maybe back at your partner who is not even paying attention to your opponent.  Some people play the warm-up as if its some kind of mini-match that they need to win before the real match even begins.  In this episode of Tennis Quick Tips, I'll talk about how to really "win" the warm-up, how to make the most of those 5 to 10 minutes before the match begins to get yourself physically and mentally ready to play.
